Competition update

18th Jun 2020
Event Date: 23rd Aug 2020

Many of you will have already heard that the Mondello Park Historic Racing Festival has very sadly been postponed until next year.  Eric Kavanagh has issued the following statement:

Unfortunately it seems that Covid has made the running of such an event impossible - not least because Mondello cannot afford to subsidize the overseas entries if there will be no spectator revenues and this appears to be the most likely outcome.
The committee of the HRCA together with Mondello have therefore decided to cancel the Festival (as currently conceived) for 2020 and to postpone the "Irish Grand Prix" concept to a similar date in 2021.
There are dates of 14 / 15th August 2021 tentatively planned to re-run this event
We would like to extend the welcome to the Frazer Nash Car Club to enter and take your places on the grid under similar arrangement to this years plan.
We are all heartbroken to have to cancel the event but we live in hope and plan to make the 2021 event bigger and better.

On the upside, the VSCC are very optimistic that Mallory Park race meeting on August 23rd 2020 will go ahead and so we have decided to run the Nash Race at this meeting.  Entries will be open to all chain driven Frazer Nashes and GNs.  As it not yet 100% confirmed, the VSCC entry system doesn't yet include the Nash race in its listings, but no doubt they will confirm what races they are running as soon as they are able.  Grid places are limited to 24 so keep an eye on the VSCC website so that you don't miss out.  Spectators won't be permitted but it is expected that each competitor can be accompanied by one 'riding mechanic'.

Shelsley Walsh hillclimb has been rescheduled to Saturday August 8th 2020. Details are on the VSCC events page, places are limited to 115 cars so get your entries in now.

The Freddie Giles Memorial Trophy at Castle Combe on Saturday October 3rd 2020 is going ahead, forming part of the 2 day Autumn Classic Historic Racing Festival. The circuit is celebrating 70 years of racing at the circuit so we'd love to see as many post war cars on the grid as possible.  Our patron Jan Giles is still planning on holding a party at her house on the Saturday evening, and the VSCC are running 2 races on the Sunday so I'd encourage as many of you as possible to enter those as well.  (Please note that the LCES Welsh Weekend has been rescheduled for the same weekend.)

Hope to see you all soon!
