FNCC Centenary Time Table

2db3a005-1b6d-4b9d-a4ac-973a9887d422

2nd Aug 2022

Dear Nash men and Nash ladies,

We are sending you this communication to allow you to make plans well in advance of the centenary of the Frazer Nash motor car in 2022.

The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you informed of the details of our centenary celebrations, so you all know what is going on, but also to enable you to communicate with us about your intentions. This is vitally important as it will enable us to make detailed plans with regard to numbers and accommodation plans. Hopefully early communication from all parties should ensure that the centenary celebrations live long in the memory (although if things work out well for the centenary ball go no one will have any memories!)

When the committee looked at the year of the Nash centenary there were several possibilities. We could have used the date of production of the first car or the date of first registration. However after much deliberation and, in communication with the Club’s very good friends at the Frazer Nash Archives, we have chosen 2022 as it marks 100 years since the foundation of Frazer Nash Ltd.

After all with no company structure there would have been no cars. If there had been no cars we would not be having the celebration that we will all enjoy next summer.

Dates

The Nash centenary celebrations will take place from

August 10, 2022 and finish on August 21

Aug 21  is  VSCC Mallory Park.

The centenary is divided into separate parcels of time and we hope that you will get involved in as much as you can.
The centenary structure is as follows:

  1. Mondello Park Historic Race Meeting. 10th -15th August:

This event will set the scene for our week long celebration but can be viewed as a standalone event. Our  Club’s involvement with this race meeting is being masterminded by Jo Blakeney-Edwards and Eric Kavanagh. Jo will be handling the communication and administration for this event.

Arrival in Ireland Wednesday August 10, in time for some jollities (a potential mountain day with a lunch stop   on Thursday 11th in the Wicklow mountains, & a possible evening bbq) kindly laid on by Eric Kavanagh. All to be confirmed shortly.

Entries should be opening within the next week or so for the 51 (yes you did read that right!) cars already on the list but there's still room for more as we have 2 FN grids.  Details of how to enter will be emailed out as soon as I have them but if you'd like to add your name to the list, please email Jo asap.

MSUK Interclub licence will be sufficient to race.

If you are not racing, but fancy a weekend in Ireland, Mondello Park is easily accessible from Dublin. It would be great to have as many supporters and helpers for what should be a fantastic spectacle.

Expressions of interest in racing to Jo Blakeney Edwards.

  1. The Centenary Ball Saturday 20th August:

The social climax of the Nash Centenary celebrations will be the centenary ball at The Duffins farm and restaurant at Stonehust Farm, which will take place on Saturday the 20th of August. This will be a black tie evening with a formal meal, dancing and socialising. It should be like a Christmas party on steroids.

The upper limit for the ball is 250 guests and the cost per ticket is £85. We would be grateful if you can confirm how many tickets each member requires on the booking form and make the appropriate payment. using either paypal or bank transfer. Reference ‘centenary ball’.

  1. VSCC Mallory Park race meeting 21st August:

The 2022 VSCC Mallory Park race meeting takes place on Sunday the 21st of August. It would be wonderful to flood the event with Nash’s of every description. Mallory Park is very close to Stonehurst Farm and so will make a convenient diversion for competitors and spectators alike and should be a great way of drawing our centenary celebrations to a close. This event will be organised by the VSCC without input from the FNCC. Entries should be made in the usual manner via the VSCC office.

Payment.

Once you have completed and returned the form that comprises the first page of this newsletter we would ask you to make the relevant payments. As you will have noticed the club is moving away from a cheque based system and preferentially would like you to make the appropriate payments through one of the below methods:

As you can see the organisers of the various components of the centenary event our well advanced in their plans for a great week which should have something for everyone. We now need your commitment to ensure that these events work and are the success that we hope that they will be. We look forward to receiving your completed forms along with appropriate payments.
