At a very wet Castle Combe yesterday, Tom Waterfield started from pole position to win the 3rd Freddie Giles Memorial Trophy. After a closely fought practise session with Patrick BE, the limited crowd was looking forward to a good battle, but unfortunately Patrick broke 2nd gear chain, which became entangled in the transmission, so had to retire.  Dougal Cawley was 2nd in Piglet, Tom Walker in the Big Yellow GN 3rd,and John Wiseman was delighted to win the handicap award.

Battles went on all down the field, and apart from the Captain's pirouette in Slug, everyone kept it on the black stuff for both practise and the race itself.  A really wonderful day and a much needed gathering of FN competitors and supporters, culminating in a presentation of the trophies by Jan Giles; and Captain Steve, in the absence of future events this year, taking the opportunity to award Dougal the Captain's cup.
