The Club Website – Time for a change

After nearly two decades of running the website I have decided it's time to let someone else jump into the driving seat.

The website was started around 1999 by Paul Bullett. He handed this over to Ken Hawes just after the Isle of Man Raid in 2002 who ran the site until 2005. This is when Sarah and I took over the running of the website. During her captaincy Louise Bunting organised a refresh of the site in 2013 which was developed by Tim Jarrett into the site we have today.

The website has shared lots of club information, many great news items, some great technical discussions in the Workshop Chatter pages and of course a few sadder items. I wish I had kept track of the number of cars and spares which were bought and sold in the For Sale and Wanted section, it must be a tidy amount. A few things I remember that stand out include the reserved GN racer Peter Evans generating the largest list of condolence messages after he passed away; and John Sheard receiving an enormous number of get well wishes after his car accident. The website is key to reporting the success of Frazer Nashes and GNs in competition and results and reports provided Jo B-E.

I have been delighted to receive many comments from club members near and far who can’t attend events, how much they enjoy the regular reports and news items on the website keeping them involved in the club’s activities.

In my 17 years I am pleased to say I only ever had to remove one comment which was disrespectful.

The website now runs in parallel with the FNCC Members page on Facebook, which works well in tandem.

It has been my pleasure to edit the website for the club, on average I spent about an hour a day on it, which I’ve just worked out to being just over 6,200 hours. I think it is time to step down and hand over the job to Tim Jarrett who I am sure will do a marvellous job in running it.
