Prescott 2016

Event Date: 11th Aug 2016

A truly Vintage Prescott, with some impressive FNCC results.  Friday saw the long course one-day competition, while the weekend event used the traditional short course.

Simon and Jo Blakeney-Edwards were asking a lot of Simon's car with double entries for both events.  They acheived second and third in class on Friday, but the car fought back on Saturday with a broken crankshaft in practice.

Other notable Friday results were; Matt Vincent's class win, Jonathan Mellor in Beetle and James Topliss in GNome taking second and third in the specials class.  Among the racing cars Tony Lees in Cognac and Julian Grimwade in the Norris both broke class records with their podium finishes.  Full results are available here.

Sunday started with the other traditional chain driven event - the cycle races.  Then on with the noisier competition.  Eddie Williams and Patrick B-E had a titanic struggle all weekend, with the lead swapping at each run.  On the final climb both broke Eddie's 2015 record, but Patrick by the largest margin, hitting a time of 44.54 seconds.  In the competition for fastest standard Nash, James Baxter in his father's Nurburg lulled the Captain into a false sense of security with his first three runs, then on his final run found an extra two and a half seconds to pip her.

Among the specials, front runners again included Jonathan Mellor and James Topliss, who were joined by Brian White to fill the top three places in Class 10, while John Wiseman's last run in GNAT secured third in Class 13, knocking the Austins off the podium.  Tony Lees and Julian Grimwade again had podium positions in the racing car classes.  Full results.
