As you probably know my sister Fiona and I have recently been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease (also called Huntington’s Chorea), a form of genetic dementia which had to come from my father Hugh’s side of the family. My brother Robin and his family are mercifully clear.
My brother-in-law, Ronald Bentley, is running the London Marathon in aid of the Huntington’s Disease Association https://www.hda.org.uk/ the main organisation which supports the UK’s 8,000 sufferers and many thousands worldwide.
It is mentally and physically a very waring disease. Tiredness is a big issue with my ability to work being cut in half along with my ability to work on the car or around the house. Although there is currently no cure for the disease, there are drug trials afoot, in hope of finding a treatment to slow the disease’s progression.
We would be delighted if you could support Ronald in his valiant quest to raise money for the HAD at the tender age of 67! He has set up a JustGiving account https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ronaldbentley?utm_source=Sharethis&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=ronaldbentley&utm_campaign=pfp-email&utm_term=86c8d7ccf9bd40d29d4d2f1f0bf19cbc.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, your money will be sent directly to the Huntington's Disease Association, so it's the most efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Alternatively you can send the donation directly to www.hda.org.uk.
