Aberdovey or Bust Update

4th Jun 2024

I have recently returned from a week in Majorca where I enjoyed plenty of cycling and beers with friends. But it wasn't all fun and games! This trip was actually part of my training for the upcoming Wolverhampton - Aberdovey Charity Cycle Ride, in support of David Leigh and others suffering from the effects of Huntington's Disease. After increasing my mileage in Shropshire over the last few weeks and completing a 90-mile ride with 6000 ft of elevation gain in Majorca's 26-degree sunshine, I'm now feeling confident about tackling the 104-mile distance. And I won't be alone - my great friend Andy Seymour will also be joining me in support of Huntington's.

Since penning this, I have some sad news to share with the Club: some of you may know that David's sister, Fiona, has also been diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. As if that weren't enough, Fiona's husband and caregiver, Ronald, passed away suddenly on 8th May due to a heart attack. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Fiona and her family during this difficult time. As they navigate their challenging journey, Andy and I will certainly keep them in our hearts and minds as we navigate ours.

The event will take place on Friday, 21st June and now has over 400 registered riders. If you would like to make a donation, please click here.
