Castle Combe

27th Sep 2025
Thirty two Nashes took to the grid at Castle Combe's Autumn Classic meeting last weekend, to compete in the 7th Freddie Giles Memorial Trophpy race. The display marquee was filled with a delectation of historic Frazer Nashes, including the 2 cars featured on the circuit's poster for the weekend, the Le Mans Rep of Dave Richards and the High Speed of Jolyon Harrison, raced into first & second place at Castle Combe in October 1950 by Stirling Moss & Tony Crook. The Captain brought up the Archives Le Mans Rep, Patrick B-E brought the Fane SS & Owlet, Erika Pilkington brought her gorgeous Sebring, while on the lawn outside the marquee were chain driven cars and BMW FNs. The entry for the race contained a good mixture of pre-war & post war cars, and the lead was hotly contested by pole sitter Theo Hunt in the family LMR and Patrick B-E's Super Sports, with Theo taking honours over the line by 0.122 seconds, with Rob Beebee in his TT Rep in third. The Captain's trophy, awarded to the first Captain or ex-Captain's car home, was decided by a sealed handicap, brilliantly worked out by Jim Parker, and was very fittingly won by Jon Giles in Freddie's beloved TT Rep. A truly memorable day for the club. Results below.
