CHAIN GANG GAZETTES 1-20

Some years ago these early Gazettes were re-written from the originals which go back over sixty years.   They are not to be compared with the very high standard of production which has been reached with the issues that are currently published and to which we have all become accustomed.   They were written on a typewriter and then Roneoed on to foolscap pages.

These Gazettes were all re-written, or ‘word-processed’ in 1997 and consequently the font and style has changed somewhat.   However, it was thought important to incorporate some of the essence of the originals by leaving uncorrected errors of spelling, punctuation etc.   In some cases this leads to rather contradictory and confusing text and in others to complete blanks because the original is totally unreadable!

It is not remembered exactly when the Chain Gang Gazette was first published, the earliest were undated, but it was sometime in the 1950s and these early editions run up to Christmas 1964.   After this date they morphed into the familiar booklet style that we know today.  This historic and valuable record of the Club makes an indispensable addition to your motoring library.

The price for the complete set of nineteen bound Gazettes (No. 12 mysteriously never appeared) was £71.50 but improvements in copying techniques have now enabled me to reduce this to £50.00 including post & packing.

Current supplies have now sold out and another batch will be printed if sufficient interest is shown so I am now taking orders for the next batch.   If you would like a set of these Gazettes please complete the order form  (please click the red login link below)  and send a deposit of £25.00 by either cash, cheque or bank transfer to John Sheard and if sufficient interest is shown another run will be printed.   If not I’ll return all deposits.
