Meadows 4ED Block Project

In my last spares project report, back in June 2020, I mentioned that Meadows 4ED blocks have not been a stock item for over 14 years, and the Committee had asked for these to be available again through Club Spares. In the intervening 2 years we have spent quite some time looking into how to produce a block which resembles the original styles, yet eliminates the inherent problems.

With the valuable help of Alistair Pugh and his 3D scanning and modelling skills, we have been able to complete our brief for both design and strength. Cylinder head stud hole support has been improved, together with consistent wall thicknesses and strengthening of block feet on to the crankcase. The patterns have now been completed and delivered to the foundry for the first block to be cast, inspected and checked for porosity. When we are fully happy with the quality of the block we will go ahead with a production run. The blocks will be stress relieved and then fully machined, leaving the final bore size to be completed by your engine builder. The cost of a block will be around £2.75k to £2.95k

12” Brake Drum Project

A 12” brake drum has now been cast, and once passed for quality, a batch will be cast and machined. Cost will be around £350 per drum.

Again, I would be very pleased to receive members’ expressions of interest to be included in the first

production run. Prices are quite difficult at the moment, but, I will do my best. Please contact me via email
